Just OK (if nothing else around)
10 May 2011 (web)
A little contradictory
Ok, so I really wanted to like this place, really I did. But, we sat down (9 people) and waited AGES just for menus (which are in old childrens books) and to order drinks. So we were off to a bad start.
The menu itself looked very, very good. Cherry Ripe and Snickers milkshakes!
Whilst the lass was nice enough, the staff exuded a fairly, how shall I say, aloof manner.
Cutlery and glasses came out, a number of which were just unsatisfactorily washed. I've included a photo of a water glass, where you can see how dirty it was. That was not the only one. The water jug was similarly dirty. Some of the cutlery still had oil on them.
Hmmmm.
We waited ages for our drinks orders to be taken.
People who'd gotten there after us, but who seemed to know the staff, got served faster - nepotism!!
Anyway, I ordered a Snickers milkshake which at $7.00 or whatever it was, was pretty pricey. It was gooood, don't get me wrong, but there wasn't much of it for the price.
The food was the saving grace for this place. My corn fritters and bacon sanga were pretty solid, as was everyone else's food.
The coffees eventually came out and were just ok (nothing spectacular). I had a ristretto and flat white.
So, I'm a bit torn. The coffee was passable, food solid, milkshakes good but pricey for the size (gimme an old school big glass!) and service was average as was the cleanliness.
