Outstanding
I've been to Byron numerous times and almost always go to the Bay Leaf. But this time, I hit the end of my tether for a few reasons. Trent at Atlantic Middle Reef http://www.atlanticbyronbay.com.au/index.html sent us around to Succulent and I was not disappointed. The food was EXCELLENT. Free-range eggs, amazing omelettes, and some really interesting but simple menu items (Haloumi burger anyone?). Goats cheese fetta and marjoram omelette. The coffee was similarly awesome. I tried a soy latte and long black. Both good-very good.

Excellent Again
I dropped in here to re-review succulent. They've changed their coffee beans from Genovese to Espresso Botero, and I think, have changed owners (French! Yay!).
Anyway, I am pleased to report the coffee is still good. We went twice in three days. I had a double ristretto both times (both good), a latte (good) and a flat white (great).
I had a grilled hamloumi baguette. Tres magnifique. The second visit, I had a free range chicken and avo maguette. Awesome. Kate had a cheese and ham toastie - rich, yum
The good is still good. Still probably the best in town.

Coffee has slipped
Ok, I dig Succulent, really I do. The owner is French, so I can practise my mangled French. The fresh juice is delightful. The food is good.
The coffee used to be REALLY good, but it seems to have slipped and is all over the shop depending who is serving. If you get the morning crew, it seems better but one of the waitresses makes coffee in the arvo and at other times and it's a minefield for inconsistency and pretty poor coffee. Lattes sometimes come out with burnt milk and way too weak.
So. If it's good coffee you're after - every time - Bay Leaf is the go. However, if you're willing to chance it, this might be the go.
It's worth mentioning that Succulent used to be rock solid on coffee with Genovese but they've changed beans (and I think ownership) and things have slipped a touch on the coffee front.
