Really good, worth a look

Awesome place, hidden gem
WOW. Wow, wow, wow. I emailed La Madre for some tips as part of the Geelong and Bellarine Project (http://wherespresso.com/news/the-geelong-and-bellarine-project/). They came back with a few, and this one was close by. Tiny cafe in a pretty cool little strip. We propped up in the sun, and were promptly served. The inside is very cool. I ordered a double ristretto and soy latte. The coffees came with Tiny Teddies. TINY TEDDIES! The ristretto was strong, clean and the coffee fresh. Lovely. Here's the latte. Vitasoy. The latte was similarly good, not outstanding, but good. Raw Sugar = awesome. Now, to the food. I ordered Moroccan eggs. It would be fair to say after a 30th the night before, I wasn't up to, say, running a marathon today. Small things brought me joy, like, WHITE PEPPER! In my opinion, white pepper is an unfairly ignored poorer brother of the over-rated black pepper. How're these eggs? SHOCKINGLY good. Perfectly poached, a carrot mash (ever so slightly too much garlic), dukkah and beautiful bread. And natural yoghurt. Party in my mouth and it was rocking. Kate ordered bacon and eggs. No butter, no nothing - just the eggs. PLENTY of cafes stuff this up. What, the chef knows better than the customer? Kate said not the best eggs she's had - unlike Main St 3195 in Mordialloc, but solid. Do yourself a favour and check it out. Coffee 7/10, food 9/10, overall 8.5.

Cafe Silk has moved!
its now at 51 moorabool street in the geelong cbd, and still doing amazing food and coffee.
they are now using coffee supreme fair trade organic beans. the coffee was smooth, with just the right amount of acidity and biterness. undertones of chocolate and roasted nuts.
the food is as good as ever, breakfasts that are a cut above the rest because they offer something different that you cant get everywhere. highly recommend the avocado on house made bread with beetroot relish! my parnter had the braised chorizo and chickpeas which were the perfect winter breaky.
lunch also sounded great, cant wait to go back and try out all of those too!
