Totally awesome, do not miss!

Best cafe on the Gold Coast
Commune Espresso is just the type of cafe I'd want to visit daily. It would not look out of place in the Coffee Capital of the Universe, Melbourne.
Clearly the owners love what they are doing, they seem genuinely happy to see every customer (maybe it is the endless sunny warm weather on the Gold Coast!). They seem to have a bunch of people they know who must come often (smart business!).
The cafe is composed of an eclectic blend of second hand furniture, and contains a range of eco focussed clothing and products. It faces east so is awesome in the morning sun. Fresh off a 6AM flight out of cold Melbourne, this was awesome.
There is no commercial kitchen so breakfast is limited to toast, croissants, some pastries, toasties and things like avocado on Turkish.
I had a double ristretto, long black, piccolo, chocolate milkshake and avo on Turkish. My girlfriend had ham on Sol bread and a fresh OJ (generous serve).
First up, the piccolo. This was *excellent* and on par with the best I've had in Melbourne. Commune has not ignored the key element of a cafe; good coffee! They've hired a barista who knows what he is doing, clearly.
Long black was light and sweet.
Piccolo was strong and well balanced. Milk well steamed.
Choc milkshake was awesome.
Avo on Turkish: AWESOME. Half an avo and perfectly ripe. HALF AN AVOCADO!
Kate had a fresh OJ which was also awesome and ham on Sol bread.
There's no commercial kitchen, so nothing like bacon, eggs, mushies etc. This is my opinion is smart - commercial kitchen = electricity, cleaning, more room, more staff = hassle. As a result you tend to have lighter brekkies, which seems in keeping with the ethos of the owners.
The fit out is light and airy, prices are very good. There's a bunch of pre made sandwiches too with a large range ready to go for brunch/lunch.
Don't waste time in the high rises of Burleigh etc, head straight here.
