Really good, worth a look

Worth a look
WOW. My mate Matt has been banging on about it for ages and I finally got around to checking it out. A COOL facade (very Venice Beach-y, washed out, cinema-signage type front, kinda 70s diner) led me in to a VERY busy Batch on a Saturday morning. Packed out with people eating all kinds of delicious looking brekkies, I was sadly confined to a takeaway only on this visit. What was key here was I looked to the coffee machine and the barista-ess was busy brushing all the grind waste away from the grinder and drop box. What does this tell me? Pride in workspace = cares about coffee. I was not disappointed. Bonsoy latte, strong, clean, not too hot, VERY, VERY good coffee. Probably the best coffee I've had in Melbourne so far, with 7 grams a VERY close second. Bravo. I'll be back for brekky soon. This place is worth driving 5 mins out of your way for, if you're on the road, and worth driving 30mins for on a weekend morning. Get there way before 12 PM to ensure a seat.

Just OK (if nothing else around)

A let down on the day
I thought I ought to drop in and re-review Batch, since I only had a takeaway last time.
My opinion has charged markedly. I felt Batch was a real let down. The food was pretty good (fetta, green bean and cheese omelette), but the coffee was a real let down.
This is partly because I've been spoilt by the likes of Crue, Deadman Espresso, Dukes, Espresso3121, Market Lane and so on, so in that company, you need to be pretty solid.
I think Midali across the road offers a better coffee.
